During COVID-19, a short-term tutoring program was developed for the children of healthcare workers in Philadelphia.

I'm originally from California, so being part of the short term program has connected me to my new home in Philadelphia. It has also reignited my passion for teaching and solidified how I can make a difference not only as a future healthcare provider, but also as a mentor. All of my sessions have been an enlightening study break that I look forward to each week.

This was a great program. Both my children were out of school for months because of the pandemic but their tutors helped them keep up with math, science, english, and history! Bryce and Rebecca were able to meet with my kids individually over Facetime and walk through their homework with them.

I’ve always viewed childhood as a time in your life that can shape who you are in the future and understood the importance of having guidance at a young age. When the COVID pandemic started, I was looking for ways to help the Philadelphia community. I met with my student 3 times a week helping her with math. At the start I could tell math was not her favorite subject, but by the end she really was enjoying working on the problems and as a tutor it is really exciting when that happens! This program allowed me to help my student and get back into the tutoring world, which is definitely a passion of mine!
